The Crowborough Locomotive Society
The Crowborough Locomotive Society was formed to build, maintain, and run a
miniature railway in the Goldsmiths Leisure Centre in Crowborough.
We run live steam working locomotives to give both young and old alike a railway
journey in miniature!
As a club we look after the site, including the track and operational features of the
Railway itself and operate running days for both visitor's and our own pleasure.
The club has grown substantially in recent years along with the number of operating
Steam Locomotives. These are either of 5" or 3.5" Gauge. This has occurred so
much so that the raised running track cannot withstand the number of Locomotives
that we wish to run at once. It has therefore been necessary to re-instate the ground
level track (5" Gauge only) which was left derelict for many years, due to vandalism,
for the use of testing and experimenting Locomotives and Rolling Stock without
interrupting the intensive Public Running service on the main raised track.
This has improved both the facilities and the smooth operation of the Railway.
